돌찬치 – first birthday party

With my twin girls just turning one, we’ve been looking into having a 돌찬치. 돌 means first birthday, and 찬치 means feast. (찬치국수, feast noodles, are a popular dish and Korean street eateries, 포장마차).
The big moment of the party is when the baby is presented with various objects on a table, such as money, calligraphy set, or rulers. Depending on which object the baby chooses, predictions about the baby’s future are made.
